We have seven small ESXi boxes Dell T710 and Optiplex desktops that we use to host a couple small websites and several development servers for Remote Sensing, Climate, and Natural Resources endeavors at Utah State University.

Sun Microsystems provided us with a low cost EMC Networker license which is  operational but no longer under support and we need a strategy to backup our VMware environment.

I've set up the basic configuration and I'm trying to understand the backup configuration.

The export utility is pretty cool but it is not intuitive that exporting the client also enables it under the backups.

On the initial demo configuration it was also not clear that I didn't have to login to the Quantum site to download the license.   It would have been a little simpler if there was a "Start Trial" or "Enter License Code Manually" button.

Two features that I would like and may be offered:

1) Backup specific VMDKs on a client, especially for some of the servers with large VMDKs

2) Specify how many backups will run in parallel.

I'm obviously just getting started but it has been a good experience so far.

I like the pay per TB pricing model since everyone else is using pay per processor.
