Quantum Forum for DXi V5000

Hi there,

we are evaluating a vmPro appliance (3.12) in a vSphere 5.5 environment with vCSA. We are comparing against VMware's "Virtual Data Protection appliance".
We plan also to integrate the DXi-V1000 but for now only vmPro at a first step.

So far everything is fine.

As our monitoring solution is Zabbix (www.zabbix.com) I wonder if someone has some tips or suggestions on how to include Quantum's appliances into monitoring.
I know that SNMP is available (we have it up and running) but there is no vendor specific MIB by Quantum thus we do not get any specific metrics from the appliance.

Also, the shipped nagios thingie is nice but covers only the standard stuff like CPU load, disk usage etc.

We would like to have a more detailed insight view of what the appliance is doing, that is:
- status of last backup, duration
- number of sent/recvd bytes / per backed up VM
- storage gain due to CBT per VM
...

I know that there is a postgres DB running. Are there any READONLY SQL commands to query that (or other) metrics to have it displayed in our monitoring? Or are there any command line tools/scripts which we can implement to support displaying the usage and metrics stats?

Thanks very much for any information.

Since there is no interest in a first step I decided to implement a cheap monitoring based on the mail reporting.

Every backup job creates an email after finishing with a CSV attached. I created a special mail account, installed an incomimg pipe, detach that file, parse it and send the gathered values back to zabbix to the corresponding virtual machines.
