Microsoft Exchange Mailbox level restoration to restore individual mailboxes to a Microsoft Exchange Server

I am looking to figure out how to use my VMpro and DXi to restore individual mailboxes on my exchange server.  Any links, tutorials or help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Caleb!

Here are the steps you would use to restore an individual mailbox to an Exchange server VM. In order to run this process ensure that the vmPRO can ping your Exchange server as it will need to utilize the iSCSI protocol during the recovery.

First, launch the Recovery Virtual Machines wizard from the SmartMotion menu - select the VM which is your Exchange server:

Thanks so much for the reply.  This looks promising.  There is a box that comes up saying "You must first configure a storage device to be used as the iSCSI write area."  Is there something special I need to do here?

Hi Caleb,

Yes, before you can run the Exchange Recovery process you must select a storage device to hold temporary files for the vmPRO iSCSI service. This space is used so that vmPRO can make the VMDK disks from your backup appear to the Exchange Server to be read/write. Once the Recovery process is complete, the iSCSI disk is dismounted and the contents of this temporary folder are cleared.

You can find this setting under Configure -> iSCSI:

Thanks a ton! This has helped me alot.

I am running into a problem.  When I come to the 3rd screen in your tutorial there is no "database" to choose from.  It just says " looking for exchange database information in the back-up".  Not sure what my issue is?
