Quantum Forum for DXi V5000

Hi,

I seem to be having problems accessing the internet from the DXi V1000 Appliance - as there are no tools from the WEB management interface to diagnose where I might be having issues, I would typically
use the cli.

However I dont know what the default username and password is - can anyone assist ?

I Cant register my serial number (because I cant access the internet) , therefore I cant download CLI documentation without quantum recognising my serial.

I do notice that I cant seem to specify DNS servers ?

Also - I would like to look at the replication functionality.

As I need to use 2 appliances, I assume that I need to request 2 separate licenses. Is that correct ?

weird as this replying to my own post - I discovered the default username is cliadmin, with a password of cliadmin.

Restriced shell does not provide access to ping, tracert et al

Correct that cliadmin doesn't provide a lot of access, but it is the method of administrating the DXi V1000.

Yes, if you want two V1000's, you can request another one, just use a different Email address.

Assuming that you do like what the V1000 can do, you can either run with the unit as is, or purchase a support contract for the first 1TB that you have, or you can expand to 2TB of dedup storage and purchase a support contract.

Until then, of course, you have Forum-V available for your use and support.

Thank you.

I couldnt activate either of the two DXI V1000 installations (one at home and one at work - both with unrestricted internet access). I was trying to find out if the DXI was having an issue with DNS. I proved that the specified name servers were accessible, then I commenced looking for a way to complete offline activation.

I found the following reference for activation

However I found the following URL provides you with a mechanism to obtain a license key without emailing yourself directly.

https://mosaic.quantum.com/?a=myaccount&b=pkreg

I had not seen a reference to this anywhere.

Did installing the product key complete the installation and provide you with what you needed?

During installation, you did need to connect to the GUI in order to at least do some of the basic configuration and input the product key (not the full license). Did that work?

In other words, did you get successful GUI access?

I ask, because you can use cliadmin to change the networking configuration. It's just a bit more difficult than in the GUI. The DXi V1000 will certainly attempt to use DHCP by default. You can change between fixed IP address and DHCP, though it's generally perceived that customers may start with DHCP then move to fixed once they roll into production.
