Quantum Forum for DXi V5000

Failed to mount cvfs filesystem from storage. This is fatal

Hi,

I am in mid of doing PoC at customer place for testing dedupe ratio.

While deploying DXiV1000 on VMware ESXi5 server we are getting below error as shown in the screenshot.

We have tried to deploy DXiV1000 appliance on network with DHCP and also without DHCP. But this issue still persists.

Server running ESXi5 is Intel architecture and does not have any other VM running. Below mentioned is the configuration of the server which is being used to deploy DXiV1000.

IBM x3650 Server Model: 7979-IS2

Intel Xeon 3.0 Ghz processor * 2 Nos.

18 Gb memory

4 NIC ports

500 GB SATA Hard drive* 2 Nos.

Installed VMware ESXi 5.0 Hypervisor

Thanks,

Hello Deepak,

This issues is typically seen when trying to boot the DXi1000 when there is no DHCP enabled. The work around is to enable DHCP and boot the DXi1000 again.

I noticed that you have another forum where you were wondering if the DXi1000 or physical DXi products support IP v6. I am still working on the answer to that question. At this point I do believe that IP v6 is supported but it must be configured via the CLI.

Question: when you have DHCP enabled and see this error, are you using IP v6 address? If so can you switch to IP v4 and try booting the DXi1000 again?

Hi Jerry,

We have tried both with and without DHCP, then also problem persists. Also we are having IP V4 DHCP pools and we had also assigned IP V4 while giving it manually.

Is there anything else we can look at?

Hi,

I'd suggest you re-deploy the OVF and make sure to assign a vswitch with a ipv4 dhcp server present. That should do the trick.
