I am trying to remove an older DXi share that's improperly named and was setup at a time when we thought our V1000 was temporary (we like it so much we kept it!). Since I can't rename the CIFS share, at least not that I could find, I need to move the existing data to a new share. Is there a fast way to do this or to force-rename the share? I figure I can always copy and the paste the files from one share to another, but then the appliance is simultaneously rehydrating and de-duplicating the data which probably won't go well.
There is not a way to rename the share once it is created.
If you used backup software to move the data to the share, then you will want to use that same backup software to move the data to the new share. You would have to read from the original share and a write to the new share.
If you were just dragged and dropped files to the share without using backup software then you can just drag and drop the files between the shares. Not the best practice (performance wise) but without another DXI and the use of replication it is your only option.
