I have a Quantum LTO-4 Half-Height Model B Drive that I wish to use to replicate backups onto.

How can I have vmPRO use it?

vmPRO is designed to use LTFS natively to write to tape.  You would need a LTFS supported appliance to accomplish this.

Currently, if your backup application supports it, you can use the samba server presentations vmpro provides and move data that way.

To present image level files:

\\ip_address_of_vmpro_appliance\export

For a granual file level presentation you would use:

\\ip_address_of_vmpro_appliance\files

Copy this data to tape.  This should be a pretty up to date representation of the /vmfs/volumes mount.

Hope that helps,

Jon

unfortunately looks like Quantum does not support their LTO-4 drives for use with LTFS.

We want to drop our troublesome Backup Exec 2012 software, so i'll need to find another solution.

Thanks for stating the LTFS requirement.
