Quantum Forum for DXi V5000

Hey,

I'm testing a v1000 on remote site with replication to a central DXI6001. After 3 weeks of small backups, I got a big amount of system metadata on v1000 site:

datasize before reduction: 466 GB

deduplicated Data: 129 GB

System Metadata: 728 GB

So, the storage is nearly full. Spacereclaimer already run. Is there an option to change the behavior of system metadata? or what can cause this proportion?

Hello Andreas,

Are you using a backup software application to save data to the DXI v1000?

Hi,

Yes. Using BackupExec 2014. Backup runs fine.

Regards Andreas

What type of data are you sending the the DXi v1000 and what firmware version is the DXi v1000?

Hello,

Firmware version is 2.3.0.5. It's a VMWare Backup.

Also, it seems to be, that System Meta Data is growing when no backup is running...

Regards Andreas

If you can upgrade your DXi v1000 to firmware version 2.3.2. Once the upgrade is finished verify that the the system metadata size goes down.

Note- you can get the 2.3.2 firmware image file here:

Hello,

as I can see, there is a fix for high system metadata at the latest update 2.3.2.1

But I can only download 2.3.2... and with this upgrade System metadata is as high as before.

My documentation shows the issue was fixed in 2.3.2 but 2.3.2.1 is available for the DXi v1000. I am not sure why only 2.3.2 is posted.

Accept the friend invite I sent you and I will see if I can upload the 2.3.2.1 firmware image for you.

Hello,

system is up for several hours with 2.3.2. Same space usage as before.

On console I can see the messages "SD 0:0:0:0:"  every minute. Maybe a special reclaim job is still running? I will check tomorow.

Also I have received a link for 2.3.2.1. So I can check if this would help.

Thanks

Hello,

same behavior with 2.3.2.1. Still full with System Metadata.

Now waiting for support contract.
